Weekend, members of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, was one of WNY's
premier rock groups of the 1970's.The group has been performing select
live shows since 1998, when the band reunited after a twenty year absence.
Weekend feature Bob
Culver on Vocals, Ned
Wood on Keyboards, Tom
Ryan on drums, Rick
Ryan on Bass and Frank
Grizanti on guitar.
From Syracuse to Buffalo, up to Niagara Falls and down to the Surf Club
in Bemus Point, Weekend used a combination of their own hits like "Everyday"
and Together" mixed with intricate and difficult tunes by giants like
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Queen, The Beatles, Yes, Supertramp and
a host of others. Weekend is noted for covering difficult songs that other
groups wouldn't consider attempting.
Weekend's rise to the top of the local music scene, their consistancy across
their decade of music, their 20 year absence from live performances and
their return to the local music scene is unique perhaps because the members
of the group are not only very talented, but they hold a special connection
with one another and their audience.
"I'm not sure who has more fun at our shows, the band or the audience."
says singer Bob Culver. "The concerts show us we can still do the
tough songs well: people still want to hear them and they really like the
new songs."
The group joined the best of the best in Western New York in October of
2000, as they were inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. Joining
the group for the induction ceremony was guitarist and vocalist Denny Dunkowski,
an original member of the group.
Also
in 2000 the band issued a CD release of "WEEKEND AT LAST," a re-mastering
of the bands original 1975 album, with 5 additional new songs. The group
has recently released a new live CD from their November 2001 show at the
Tralf in Buffalo. They continue to write and record more songs, hoping
to release a new album later this year.
